“Staring too long at the tree gives one a feeling of vertigo
As the circles begin to twist and pulse
And the central point goes hurtling.”
Vernal & Sere Theatre returns to the Windmill Arts Center to begin its 2022-2023 residency season with a world-premiere production written and directed by founding company member Sawyer Estes. Following our experimental adaptations of Alfred Jarry’s UBU and Luis Buñuel’s The Exterminating Angel, we are pleased to showcase a more pared down, naturalistic approach to theatre making with a melancholic piece concerned with issues of erotic love, climate change, and self-identity.
HURRICANE SEASON is set against a backdrop of news headlines and pornography, wherein a husband and wife each become entangled in extra-marital affairs with young people eerily resembling their own likeness. At turns bewildering, gut-wrenching, hilarious, and expressionistic, the play is a peculiar exploration of human desire in chaotic times.
The production begins October 7 and runs through October 23.
HURRICANE SEASON features an impressive cast of newcomers and Vernal & Sere company members: Kathrine Barnes, Erin Boswell, Pascal Portney, Melissa Rainey, and Sam Ross. The design and production team includes lights by Lindsey Sharpless, set by Josh Oberlander, sound by Zach Halaby and Kacie Willis, music by Matt Meade and Erastus McCart of The Conditions, video by Hannah Alline and Matthew Shively, set construction by Wanda Creech, Mitch Butler, Sam Ross, and Bret Brammer, costumes by Erin O’Connor, and intimacy direction by Daniela Santiago. Erin O’Connor serves as movement director and AD.

TICKETS BY SLIDING SCALE
We've had many people ask how they can do and give more in support of our work, our livelihoods, and keep the cost of tickets affordable to all regardless of income.
Keeping theatre accessible and sustainable is a core value of ours as well. To achieve that end, we are proud to offer a new sliding scale ticket model for our production of Hurricane Season.
Limited quantities for each price point are available. Please choose the option which best reflects your need. We believe in a kind of pay-what-you-can ticketing model and are intent on working towards this within the Atlanta theatre scene.
If you are experiencing financial hardship and cannot meet these costs, don't let this prevent you from seeing the show. Email us at email@example.com and we will be happy to work through your situation.
